Hello!
My name is Katie Sandquist, and I'm grateful that you're considering sharing your practice with me. Yoga has been an important part of my own journey since I started my practice as part of my recovery from postpartum depression. That was 16 years ago, and I have only grown to appreciate this beautiful gift more and more as a path for building more loving, healthy, and nourishing relationships with our bodies, each other, and the world.
My full-time gig is not yoga. My main vocation is as a licensed mental health counselor, but my journey with yoga actually overlaps beautifully with my passion for mental health. Both personally and in leading others in these practices, I have seen the movement, reflection, and breathwork of yoga be healing for mind, body, and spirit.
I have been teaching yoga since 2019, with Still Water Yoga until the studio closed, and then here and there for stand alone classes. I've known that I'd return to teaching on a regular basis, but I was waiting and listening for the time to be right. God nudged me that this was the time, and I started this class in August of 2023.
My husband Andrew and I have three boys, two of whom are taller than me now! We love almost anything outside, including hiking or kayaking. We are also part of the adventure starting a church here in Harlan in 2023, The Way Community Church (where our class meets!). Both Andrew and I serve on the board there, and I lead worship. Music is another great love of mine- singing and playing piano or guitar. I also enjoy taking photos and playing around with art using my photography and writing.
You can reach me by email at harlanyogaforall@gmail.com or on the Yoga to Love Our Bodies Facebook here. Follow the page to stay up on announcements and info about class.
My heart for yoga is the same as my heart as a mom, in my church, and as therapist, to create a place where we can be safe, be connected, and can heal.
Welcome.
Katie
